Flora Tu
Flora is a sophomore at Burnaby North Secondary School and head of Human Resource for BCWYA.
Women's issues have been a passion of hers ever since she was a child. Whether it be seeing girls' clothing being more expensive or questioning why there's an expectation to wear makeup, curiosity prompted her to explore feminist literature. The books "The Black Unicorn" by Audrey Lorde, "Willful Virgin: Essays in Feminism" by Marilyn Frye particularly inspired her to create a non-profit with her friends - BC Women’s Youth Association - to address the feminist issues she’s passionate about.
As Human Resource she organizes BCWYA events and manages internal affairs. In her free time, she plays piano, does debate, and plays with her cat Monkey. She loves listening to David Bowie, Queen (Somebody To Love - HD Live - 1981 Montreal 5:32), Lauryn Hill, Vacations, and Ryo Fukui.
